We at WWF Adria know how important it is to have a good boat and gear to catch fish. That's why we want to let you know about a great opportunity: the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund, or EMFAF for short.
This EMFAF program is giving money to fishers like you to improve your fishing practices in a way that protects the fish in the sea. This webpage will tell you more about the kind of money available, why sustainable fishing is important, and how WWF Adria can help you get involved.
The European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) helps fishers switch to sustainable fishing. This funding aims to boost the economy, protect the environment, and support local communities in the EU. For small-scale fishers in Croatia, EMFAF grants are a key chance to get money for better fishing methods and technology, helping to keep fish stocks healthy for the future. By applying, you can get financial help for your fishing business to be both eco-friendly and profitable.
WWF Adria is committed to the conservation of the Adriatic Sea and the sustainable development of its communities. We understand the challenges small-scale fishers face and offer technical assistance and pre-financing for EMFAF grant applications. Our team of experts provides guidance through the application process, helping you to identify eligible projects, prepare successful proposals, and implement sustainable fishing practices. Through our partnership with local and European organizations, we aim to empower fishers, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge needed to thrive in a sustainable fishing industry.
According to the fishers, a major factor in the lack of applications to European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) is cashflow. Therefore, in the coming period 2021-2027, in addition to technical assistance, WWF Adria and its partners also provide funds for pre-financing of European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) grants. This partnership takes the form of non-profit organisation called BlueMove.
In the previous funding cycle from EMFF 2014-2020, WWF Adria provided fishers with technical assistance in writing and submitting their applications. This support allowed 15 fishers to obtain about 1.3 million euros from EMFF.
